I felt like Moses the other day!!!! LoL, Wait… Lemme explain. So, I’m digging through my closet looking for this one shirt in particular. I’m pulling hangers out of the closet I’m looking through drawers, I’m doing the most. So I go back to my closet and I have this hanger in my left hand with about three shirts on it and I’m using my right hand to rummage through the closet and find this shirt that obviously don’t wanna be founT yes I said founT. So anyway, the TV is on and one of my favorite commercials comes on… Capital One. Actually, I’m really feeling the new Bud Light “Man Up” commercials and of course the Dos Equis “Stay Thirsty, My Friends” guy is my uncle in my head. Anyway, the Commercial goes off and it ends with the classic question… “What’s In Your Wallet?” As random is this is, something told me to not look in my wallet but to look in my hand. Low and behold, I check the hanger with the three shirts in my left hand and it actually had FOUR shirts on it, including the extra evasive yet oh so fly shirt that I was looking for. This is the type of shirt that really takes my arm and chest sexy to the next level so it was mandatory that I find it, You feel me?!?!?!?

Anyway, it made me think… How many times do we look, and search, and waste time doing what my pastor calls “The fallacy of the elsewhere”? Meaning, we have exactly what we need right under our noses yet we spend time, effort, money, energy, resources and a bunch of other stuff searching and looking elsewhere for the answer.

I don’t want to spook anyone out but I’m about to use a word that is sooooo taboo… You ready? The word is… “BIBLE.” And the reason I’m using it is, there’s a situation in there that illustrates this exact situation. It’s in Exodus 3 & 4 when Moses meets God in the form of a burning bush. In a nutshell, God let’s Moses know that He had a job for him. He wanted Moses to deliver the nation of Israel from Egypt. Anyway, Moses gave all these wack excuses for why he didn’t feel that he was the right person for the job and how he felt that he wasn’t equipped enough to do it and God said, “What’s in your hand?” I’ll let you read it on your own, if you’re not familiar, but basically, God was trying to show Moses that it’s not complicated so stop making excuses… Your answer is not out there so stop searching out there! Your answer is not in your excuses or in your thinking that you’re not equipped enough. What you need is simple and it’s right here in your hand.

This is your assignment for this week *Puts on school teacher glasses… Think about what you’ve been putting off or making excuses about because it seems too difficult or uncomfortable to accomplish. Think about what you’ve been searching and searching for. The answer to them both just might be simple… And it might be right there in your hand. No need to make excuses or keep searching elsewhere for an answer. The answer might lie in a simple conversation with God and Him showing you what’s in your hand because ultimately HE IS THE CAPITAL ONE…

*Drops mic and moonwalks off stage….

If you didn’t feel that just now then you can just ignore this…

But if you did, what did you think? What came to mind? Who did you call? Honestly, I started praying lol! I ain’t even gonna lie! I called a few significant others and sent a tweet only to learn that the earthquake spread from beyond Brooklyn with an epicenter in Richmond VA with a 5.8 on the Richter scale. Canada all the way to North Carolina.

Did you think about all of the stuff that you wanted to accomplish that never got done? Or maybe it wasn’t that deep for you. I was on the phone with my homegirl at the time who works in Manhattan and I told her to hang up and leave the building. When I lived in LA back in 2001, that was my first encounter with an earthquake and it even though it was only tremors (similar to today’s) it was still a life changing and introspective experience to feel the very ground beneath your feet moving! I know that you’re all busy and you don’t have a lot of time to be on here at my blog but I want you to all think about how different this experience could have been. This could’ve taken a turn in the total opposite direction. What would you have done if that happened? What would you wish that you had in place if that happened? What would you wish that you had done more of or less of if this was a destructive situation? I know that I, personally, have a few things to change in  my own life. I even thought about the 10 year Anniversary of 9-11 being upon us and… Nevermind, don’t let me get started with my conspiracy theories which would cause for even more reason for us to be on our knees!!!!

But anyway, I’m sure that the churches will be full this Sunday! LoL! Then again, with people’s attention spans, this’ll probably old news by 10pm and we’ll be back to talking about the NBA lock out or Will & Jada or the new NFL Season or Kim K’s new wedding spread. Anyhoo… I’m glad no one was hurt… And Cali, stop laughing at us!!!!!!! lol!! Be Blessed my friends. Go with God…

Wait… Wait… Wait!!! It’s not exactly what you think. Then again, I’m not sure what you’re thinking right now, lol!!!

I guy goes to a restaurant with some new hot chick that he met and has a great meal. He then lets her pressure him into having the apple pie a la mode that he knows GOOD AND WELL he shouldn’t be eating. But he orders it… He eats it… He enjoys it… And then during the drive home, he’s reminded why he shouldn’t have eaten it. His stomach starts to talk to him. His chest starts to sweat. His foot starts to press the gas & brake petals a little more aggressively. The red lights seem like they’re taking forever to change. The closer I get to my house the… Ooops, I mean the closer HE gets to HIS house, the more intense it becomes. He starts to bob and weave in traffic. He cuts a few people off. He runs one or two red lights. He lets out a few sorrowful moans and groans to himself. He rolls the windows down. He turns the radio from station to station only to be reminded of what he’s going through… “Rain down on me” by SWV… “Breathe” by Fabulous… “Never Could’ve Made It” by Marvin Sapp… “Drive Slow” by Kanye West… Arrghhh!!!! He shuts the radio off and  yells at cars in front of him for driving too slow, no matter how fast they’re driving. He’s blowing his born every 40 seconds for any random reason that slows down his process. To every other person on the road, he looks like the most destructive, inconsiderate, careless driver that ever existed, until he finally makes it home.

What about when we’re driving and we see a person running lights and acting wreckless? They cut us off in traffic. They dip and manuver in and out of lanes in a lowkey dangerous manner. We get pissed off right? But what if they’re rushing to a toilet? What if they’re rushing to make it to see their first child be born? Or what about a person we may encounter who seems rude, or careless, or inconsiderate? Do we consider what they may be going through at that given point in time that’s making them behave that way? Rather than get turned off and react, do we consider what may be going on in their mind… or in their bank account… or on their recent health report?

Of course this doesn’t give people the right to to act however they want with people but it should raise all of our antennaes to be more compassionate and understanding of our fellow (wo)man and their situations. Do you believe in prayer? Who was the last person you prayed for? When was the last time you looked at a person’s situation and were so thankful that it wasn’t your own? The title is diarrhea… but the key word is “compassion”

Get you some…

Any thoughts??

Wait! Before you post your feedback, pass me some spray and a magazine. And don’t NOBODY come in here after me for about 35…. 45 minutes!

Share this with your peeps. I’m sure they’ll enjoy it.
