Who/What do you worship?
No, seriously… Think about it. I know that you may get on your knees… close your eyes… close your palms together… and start speaking to some figure or energy or spirit out there. Yes, I know that much. I know the whole deal about speaking to them and hoping they speak back and then somewhere during the prayer you automatically remember that the cable bill is due or that you left the iron on, and then your mind kicks you in the butt to remind you that you’re supposed to be praying and all that blah blah blah… lol! YES! I know about that part. But I’m talking about worship. I’m talking about who your God really is…
Is your God really your paycheck? Is your God really your stress? Is your God really your everyday pursuit of all the things you want in life? You do know that these things can become Gods to you even if they’re not necessarily bad… You do know that, right? And to take it a step further, the Devil would much rather you give your time, effort, energy, money, sweat, devotion, and dedication to these things anyway. That way, you’ll be spending less time praying to whoever you pray to. That’s the kind of worship the Devil would rather you do.
So what’s my point?
Ok… If you pay any attention to current events (which I need to get better at) then you’ve heard recent allegations against a Highly esteemed pastor. I don’t know the man. I’ve never met him. I don’t know his accusers. I’ve never met them. But what I do know is… This situation is DEFINITELY going to cause people to look at God in a funny way, which it shouldn’t. This situation is DEFINITELY going to make people question God, which it shouldn’t.
My statement is… The only way that situations like these will cause you to question God, is if you’re doing Devil worship. WOAH WOAH WAIT!!! I’m not saying that you pray to the Devil or that you’re a wicked person. No, what I’m saying is that you are wrapped up in the way the Devil wants you to worship. You are focused on things and people OTHER than God. And when these things and people show their imperfections (after all no one and nothing is perfect) you now question God as if He’s the one who messed up… As if He’s the one who is imperfect. Don’t do that. Don’t.
If you are a victim of sexual abuse OR if you have ever committed sexual abuse, I do not wish for this post to offend you. I know that this is a very sensitive topic. And although, this post is not about sexual abuse, it does have the potential to indirectly, affect those who have experienced it. I ask that we all keep this situation in our thoughts and prayers in hopes that God will have His way with it.
Pay attention to who/what you worship. Re-aligning our priorities and who/what we worship, just might be that small adjustment that changes our lives…
