Does this sound familiar?
Person 1 does a favor for person 2. Person 1 lets Person 2 stay at their home, or maybe they let them borrow their car, or maybe even let Person 2 borrow some clothes or money. Then something happens… Somewhere along the way, Person 2 takes longer than expected to return the money… OR Person 2 damages what they borrowed OR person 2 stays at the house waaaaaaaaaaay longer than expected and doesn’t even contribute to groceries or bills or any of that. Person 2 grows very inappreciative and when Person 1 and Person 2 eventually part ways, Person 1 (The one who was trying to be nice) is now left with the burden, or left with the damaged goods, or left with a bill. That burden is what I call a Bi-Polar Due or a Weirdo Tax.
It’s the price that we normal people (whatever normal means) pay for having to share this planet with these degenerates, derelicts, low lifes and complete wastes of skin. Fortunately, I haven’t had to pay any weirdo taxes in a while but because of the cycle of our universe, I know my time is coming again. If you are reading this, you are either:
A- …Dying laughing to yourself because you just did OR are in the middle of paying a Bi-Polar Due or Weirdo Tax
B- …Nodding in approval as you can relate because one of your peeps is going through it or has had to pay a Bi-Polar Due.
C- …Reading this with absolutely No Clue of what I mean because you in fact are, unknowingly, part of #TeamWeirdo.
*SIDEBAR* I have a very close friend, practically a brother to me, who is clinically Bi-Polar. I understand what this condition means and how serious it can be. So, when I use the term, it’s not meant to offend anyone who can relate to this condition. I am using the term loosely. Some may wonder why I needed to explain that but as a writer, I have come to find out just how much what I say and how it’s received can be to TOTALLY different things. So I just figured I would add that disclaimer.
Ok, now back to the weirdos. People… recognize when something is being done for you. Parents… recognize that the 5 most important words that your child can learn are Yes, No, Please, Thank You, and I’m Sorry (Technically that’s 7 words but who’s counting?) The proper use and application of these 5 terms is a great place to start in shaping a persons character, integrity, appreciation for what they receive, compassion for other people’s possessions, and humility when in the wrong. I know adults who either have no idea when they’ve wronged someone and/or know that they’re wrong and can feel the guilt tingling within them but will not face it head on with a simple apology to the other person. That baffles me!!!! I believe that if we all paid more attention to these 5 terms, it would decrease the Weirdo Tax rate, lighten the Bi-Polar Dues and diminish the growing numbers of Weirdo Nation. That is all. As you were.
